The trick is to capture the three dimensional aspect of the subject on a two dimensional plane

with its expansive views all around

There are two encircling arms that extend eastwards towards Glenridding from the summit and nestling beneath the summit and the two arms is Red Tarn a mountain lake

Despite the harshness of their environment they exist side by side giving the grateful painter a great subject

Normally the dam is pretty well disguised within the colours of the mountainside

To me it's a wonderful opportunity to practice my drawing skills. The wind formed trees surrounding the churchyard makes for a tremendous composition.
