The design by Richard Bird and Michael Mayhew was adapted from an illuminated medieval manuscript and shows a fox with sharp teeth and snaking red tongue. The performance was directed by Peter Hall and starred Dennis Tynsley, Paul Scofield, Liam O'Callaghan, Stanley Lloyd, Ben Kingsley and John Gielgud.
