the colours that I now replicate in my own garden

A final layer of tape was then applied and stencils were used to apply the honeycomb effect in black and white

so I combined these

I felt it would work well on a more complex background and I’d recently been experimenting with flicking paint onto the canvas using an old toothbrush which gave a matt stone-like effect

The background is a subdued mix of blues, greens and purples applied using a splatter technique to give variety across the canvas. This is overlaid with red and green stripes in various widths and at assorted angles reminiscent of pathways through a garden. The red and green colours are chosen as they remind me of the Pelargoniums that my grandfather would always
