where things further away appear lighter in colour

I would recommend an underlay to stabilise and prolong the life

The red ground with an elegant, allover design predominantly in green and gold, although there are accents of taupe, ivory and pale yellow, within a grass green border. In excellent condition, original ends, one expert repair to one side.
