In the SUSTAIN6 trial, semaglutide (a GLP-1RA) significantly increased diabetic retinopathy complications, including vitreous hemorrhage [2], while a recent retrospective cohort study of patients with type 2 diabetes showed that use of GLP-1RAs modestly increased the incident risk of diabetic retinopathy, although sight-threatening diabetic complications including blindness were somewhat lower in patients treated with GLP-1 RAs [5]
